A FORTY FOUR HOUR WEEK
i —o RAILWAY EMPLOYEES IN NEW SOUTH WALES (Received March 6, 9 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 6. Under two awards issued by Judge Drake Brockman in the Federal Arbitration Court, covering 5300 employees in traffic grades, and 6300 in general grades of the New South Wales railways, a 44hour week now becomes Standard for employees of the- New South Wales railways. Less than one-third were compelled under Federal court awards to work a 48-hour week. The remainder worked 44 hours. The new awards create uniformity of hours, wages, and working conditions.
