Under two awards issued by Judge Drake Brockman in the Federal Arbitration Court, covering 5300 employees in traffic grades, and 6300 in general grades of the New South Wales railways, a 44hour week now becomes Standard for employees of the- New South Wales railways. Less than one-third were compelled under Federal court awards to work a 48-hour week. The remainder worked 44 hours. The new awards create uniformity of hours, wages, and working conditions.
