She confessed to the police that she went to Brest to captivate Count de Forceville, an officer of the newest cruiser, La Gulissonniere. to obtain for a "foreign power" the secrets of the cruiser's construction, but fell in love with her victim. She said she was paid money for this mission, but could not carry on the scheme. The pair were arrested when on the way to Paris. Count de Forceville says he will marry the spy ;
