THREE INTERNATIONAL STARS FOR SATURDAY Last Saturday speedway patrons saw how thrilling a two-star broadsiding meeting can be. Next Saturday three internationally famous riders will be on the programme at Monica Park in match and handicap events. The visitors, who have been secured for Christchurch only with great difficulty by Stadium Sports, Ltd., are "Tiger" Stevenson. Arthur Atkinson, and Billy Lamont. Harold Montague (otherwise "Tiger") Stevenson is known on every dirt track of any account in the world. Born at Sunbury-on-Thames in 1907, he is a great fighter and never gives up. He has captained England in four tests, thus setting a record, and has been captain of his home team. West Ham, for six years—a remarkable achievement in the quickly changing fortunes of the speedway, and one which is the best possible testimony to his skill and daring. Among his victories has been the British individual championship, and he was just beaten by Wilkinson after 16 heats had sorted out the finalists, in the official Australian championship for the A.C.U. sash at Sydney a few weeks ago. Stevenson is popularly known as "the Terror of the Speedway." Arthur Atkinson is his riding mate in the tests; indeed, Stevenson will not appear without him. Although the youngest member of the Australian or English teams, being only 21 years of age, Atkinson, on his form in Australia tins season, has been hailed by the experts as a coining champion. Lamonl's record is known to everybody. Last .year he was victorious everywhere during a tour of America, and he has ridden for Australia on no fewer than 25 occasions in test matches. He has also held the world's championship. and is known as a spectacular rider.
