The damage to the hull of the Union Company's cargo steamer Waipiata, which touched bottom when leaving the Napier breakwater at low tide recently, is more extensive than was at first anticipated. She was docked at Port Chalmers on February 25, and it was found that a number of plates below the wateiiine were badly dented. The repairs, which are expecteS to run into several thousands of pounds, will probably take upwards of three weeks. A tender for the work was accepted to-day.
