UTILITY POULTRY CLUB
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Christchurch Utility Poultry Club was held last evening, Mr T. S. Dove presiding. The chairman referred to the recent deaths of Messrs W. Austin and A. J. Smith, members' standing in silence for a moment. Mr R. Harrison, a prominent Australian poultry-breeder, was welcoit"%l by the chairman. A letter .was received from the Christciiurch poultry sugt;esling that three delegates be appointed from the Utility Club for the suggested conference of delegates from the following clubs:—New Zealand Utility Poultry Club, Leghorn and Minorca Club, Rhode Island Red and Orpington Club, and Wyandotte Club. ■ The following were appointed as delegates: Messrs -W. Turner, F. AshI worth, and W. A. Pollard. The following were nominated for positions as judges in the June show of the Christchurch Poultry Club: — White Leghorns, Messrs J. Liggins and F. Ashworth; other coloured Leghorns,. Mr S. F. Marshall: Minorcas, Mr T. S. Dove; any other variety heavy breeds, Orpingtons,. and ducks, Mr J. D. Gobbe; eggs and dressed poultry, Mr W. Turner. Mr Dove said that Mr Harrison had agreed to take over schedules of New Zealand competitions to Australia and would try to induce Australian breeders to participate in them. This had been much appreciated. Messrs A. Combes and R. Watkins were elected members of the club. Mr Harrison spoke to the meeting on the industry in Australia, and after his address the meeting carried a vote of thanks to him. j 111 !
