REV. A. W. STUART
FELLOW MINISTERS BID HIM FAREWELL Members of the Christchurch Ministers' Association and their wives gathered at the Young Men's Christian Association rooms yesterday afternoon fo bid farewell to the Rev. A. W. Stuart, and Mrs Stuart, who arc leaving for Sydney. The president of the association, the Rev. R. Warnock, stated that it was felt, that a function should be arranged, as Mr Stuart was now the senior member of the association, and had been its secretary for several years. The Rev. D. Gardner Miller said that it was no surprise to those who knew Mr Stuart when it was announced that he had received an appointment to such an important position as that of organising secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society of New South Wales. His work in Canterbury had itself justified this wider appointment. Pastor James Crawford paid a very high tribute to the work of Mr Stuart in many spheres, and particularly referred to his work in association with the Christchurch Ministers' Association. He said that all Mr Stuart's work had been successful, and had been characterised by thoroughness and efficiency. All present regretted his departure, but prayed that God's blessing would be with both Mr und Mrs Stuart in their new field of work. In replying, Mr Stuart ■ thanked those present for the thought behind the gathering, and stated that he appreciated the goodwill of his fellow ministers. He gave an interesting account of the extent of the work to which he had been called.
