SYDNEY ROYAL SHOW
KECORD FIXTURE ANTICIPATED The annual show of the Royal New South Wales Agricultural Society, which will be opened in Sydney on April 14, should be one of the most successful in the history of the society, according to its deputy-president, Mr J. H. S. Angus, who left Christchurch last night on his return to Sydney, after a month's holiday in New Zealand. The show will be open for nine days and five nights, and Mr Angus considers that if the weather is favourable the attendance record—which is 153,000 for one day—will be broken. Mr Angus said he had received word from Sydney that the prospects for the show were exceedingly bright. It had been necessary to increase the accommodation for horses by building an extra 100 boxes, and even then there would only be enough room. For the wood-chopping contests, which were most popular, extra accommodation was being provided. The horse and cattle sections in themselves were very big, and: it feemed from the reports about the entries that the show would be a record. Besides the cattle and horses, there would be sections for sheep, Birds, dogs, and cats. Last year the dog section drew record entries, but it could safely be anticipated that even those figures would be bettered in April. One of the outstanding tures of the show would be the districts competitions, in which, it was anticipated, the display would be as good m one could expect anywhere.
