♦ i ANNUAL MEETING There was a lar.ee and representative attendance at the annual meeting of the Waltham Public Library last night. The patron, Mr J. J. Hurley, was elected to the chair. The treasurer's statement showed that subscriptions received during the year had amounted to £93 6s lOd. Five juvenile. 64 non-fiction and 320 fiction books had been placed on the shelves at a cost of £69 18s. A further £22 0s lOd, had been spent on repairing books. There were at present 280 subscribers; and at January 31, there was a credit balance in hand of £l7 17s. Cr. G. T. Thurston, who was present at the meeting, spoke of the good work done by library committees. The Waltham library would receive a larger subsidy this year than previously. He urged the committee to take its troubles direct to the sub-committee of the City Council concerned and not to wait until the annual meeting before bringing troubles to the notice of the councillors.
