INVASION OF BOLIVIA

PARAGUAYAN FORCES MOVE STRONG ATTACK COMMENCED (Received March 3, 6.35 p.m.) ASUNCION (Paraguay), March 2. A communique issued by the Paraguayan Ministry for Defence announces that Paraguayan forces have crossed the Parapiti river, to begin the long-expected invasion of Bolivia proper, after wiping out a garrison of 300 men at Tamachindy. To the south, the Paraguayan forces have continued pressing the defences of Villamontes, the Bolivian army's base, having pushed the defenders back half a mile in some places.
