Correspondence is invited and questions will be nnswercd.] One hundred and one calls were attended last week by the St. John Ambulances, and of these 20 were accident cases and nine country trips. In the latter case the ambulances travelled 620 miles, while the total mileage was 1134. Divisional Notes Selwyn Nursing Division met in the brigade rooms on Tuesday, when Mrs E. Angus, lady divisional superintendent, presided over an excellent attendance of members.
Nominations for two lady ambulance ofliccrs were received by the lady corps superintendent, Mrs A. E. Fricker, and a ballot resulted in Misses E. Lane and E. Biggs being elected. Under the supervision of Mrs Fricker, first aid bandaging was carried out. The division's funds were considerably benefited by a "bring and buy" sale which was held at the close of the meeting. The usual parade of the Christchurch Ambulance Division was held on ' Wednesday evening. The evening was devoted to the divisional competion for the Chapman cup and vases, the winners being Corporal Samuel, squad leader, Privates Prib, Graves, and Taylor. The weekly parade of the St. Matthew's Nursing Division was held at the brigade rooms on Monday evening. There was a fair attendance of members present, and after duties for the week were arranged, some time was spent in study. Accident cases were staged, involving injuries to six persons, on which three, squads took part. At the conclusion of the evening's work the lady superintendent gave a detailed criticism and expressed her satisfaction with the work done. Boy scouts who acted as patients were thanked for their services. The, usual meeting of the No. 3 Ambulance Division was held on Thursday evening, there being 21 members present. After the inspection by Mr D. Sommerville, divisional superintendent, the parade was taken by Ambulance Officers N. Milne and V. Pearcy, who conducted a series of first-aid tests, in which the various squads did very creditable work. There was a good attendance of members of the Lyttelton Railway Ambulance Division, which paraded at the sub-centre rooms on Monday evening. Superintendent J. Lister was in charge, and after a short talk the members were taken in roller bandaging. At the business meeting held later it was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Corps Sergeant Ellis, who was confined to his home after a recent accident. At a meeting held the previous week the division was given first-aid instruction in fractures and pressure points. The Beckenham Nursing Division met as usual on Thursday evening, when Mrs M. Gay presided over a good attendance. After the inspection and roll call duties were arranged for the week. The newly appointed divisional surgeon, Dr. Frank Birkinshaw, attended and gave an interesting address on "Pneumonia, its Symptoms and Treatment."
