MR R. A. KIRKUP HONOURED
CIFST OF PILOTS AND PUPILS At a gathering in the club room at the Wigram Aerodrome on Thursday evening, the pilots and pupils of the Canterbury Aero Club took the opportunity of saying farewell to Mr R. A. Kirkup, before his departure for Gisborne, where he will take up a position as pilot with East Coast Airways, Ltd. There was a large attendance, and during the evening Mr R. S. Taylor presented Mr Kirkup with a crystal table lamp on behalf of the pilots and pupils.
Short addresses were given by Messrs C. Lewis, E. Ridgen, L. W. Matson, and H. Woirall, who expressed their regret at Mr Kirkup's departure, and wished him and Mrs Kirkup every success and happiness in their new sphere. Several toasts, including "The Air Force," which was proposed by Mr D. Hopwood and replied to by Squadron Leader J. L. FTndlay, were honoured, and during the evening musical numbers were given by Mr David McGill and his party.
