ELEVEN AEROPLANES FLY NORTH

N.Z. AKRO CLUB'S PAGEANT AT MASTERTON Eleven aeroplanes left Wigrarn Aerodrome yesterday for Masterton, to fake part in the New Zealand Aero Club's North Island pageant, which will be held there to-day. Four Royal New Zealand Air Force Hawker Tomtits were flown to Masterton by Flight Lieutenant D. M. Allan, Flying Ollicers E. B. and G. M. Firth, and Pilot Officer R. A. Kirkup, officers in No. 1 Squadron. New Zealand Territorial Air Force, who have been attending a refresher course during the last 10 days. Flying Officers H. and B. Armstrong, K. A. McKenzie, and another, of No. 2 Squadron, the next to undertake a refresher course, will bring the machines back next week. Flight Lieutenant H. B. Burrell, R.N.Z.A.F., also flew to Masterton in a Moth. He will remain in the North Island for a few days to carry out his routine inspection of aircraft. Five machines from the Canterbury and Otago Aero Clubs were flown to Masterton. The Canterbury pilots were Messrs G. C. Lewis, F. Sharman, E. Ridgen, and Miss N. Rountree, in two Moths. The Otago Club's instructor, Mr E. G. Olson, piloted a Waco, while two club Moths were flown by Messrs E. Maen and J. C. Tait.

Last evening Mr J. J. Busch, commercial pilot to the Canterbury Aero Club, Hew a Puss Moth to Nelson. He will leave for Masterton early this morning with two members of the Marlborough Aero Club as passengers. A Moth belonging to the Auckland Aero Club was flown to Masterton by Mr L. W. Swann, secretary to the club. All of the Canterbury Aero Club's machines will return to Christchurch to-morrow.
