Replying to a deputation representing the public service the Premier, Mr B. S. B. Stevens, said the effect on the budget for this year of the easing of the public service salary cuts in grades between £IBO and £ 300 a year would be examined for the guidance of the Government, Mr Stevens added that he believed that if the upward trend of business continued, and the public accounts maintained the steady improvement of the last two years, the Govern-
ment would be able, after July 1, to modify substantially the provisions of the salaries reduction legislation.
