LONDON COUNTY RATES
SOCIALISTS' BUDGET SHOWS 10k! INCREASE LONDON, February 28. The first budget of the socialists, who secured a majority on the London County Council in March last year, shows an increase of 10|d in the general county rate, which the chairman defends on the ground that "the London County Council rate for years past has been unnaturally and illegitimately low." The "Daily Telegraph" comments: "The electors had a plain warning Yet 67 per cent, of the electorate did not vote. Now they have their reward.''
