WHITE BUTTERFLIES IN CANTERBURY

TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir—ln "The Press" of Tuesday last, under the heading "White Butterflies in Canterbury," it is stated that arrangements have been made for the liberation in Canterbury of a parasite to combat the white butterfly and a supply of parasites is expected from Wellington this week, it is hoped that a good supply will be liberated in Sumner, as the white butterflv has increased enormously this summer, and is doing a lot of damage amongst cabbages and other vegetables. Only a few were noticed in Sumner last season, but now they are as thick as bees. It is said that a vegetable grower killed more than 150 in one week recently, and many others are complaining bitterly about them—Yours, etc., _„ mem. *u , RESIDENT. February 23, 1935.
