* CHRISTCHURCH FIGURES REVENUE LESS THAN IN JANUARY Revenue collected by the Customs Department in Christchurch, from all sources last month, was more, by £13,494, than was collected in February, 1934, but was £24,615 less than the total collected in January, 1935. Compared with February, 1934, net customs duties last month showed an increase of £6127; net beer duty an increase of £612; tyre duty an increase of £215; motor spirit tax an increase of £5211; meat exnort levy an increase of £203; dairy produce levy was £47 less; the sales tax produced £1345 more; the gold export duty was £36 less; and from other sources the receipts were £136 less. As compared with January, 1935, the principal decreases were:—Net customs, £11,318; net beer duty. £940; motor spirit tax, £2545; sales tax, £7051; and other sources, £2677. AUCKLAND, February 28. The Customs duties collected in Auckland for the 11 months of the financial year ended to-day, show an increase of £211,304 ever those for the corresponding period last year. The total receipts for the period were £2,385,044, while the amount collected during February was £211,574, against £217,057 in the same month last year. The February total also showed a decrease on the amount collected in the previous month, which was £223,687. There was also an increase in the combined receipts of petrol duty and tyre tax. For the month just ended and for the 11 months of the financial year, the receipts for February were £48,942, against £41,933 for the corresponding month last year, while the total for 11 months was £516,282, compared with £468,401. Excise duty on beer collected last month, amounted to £10,831, which was £1405 lower than that received during January, but slightly in excess of that for February of last year.

Sales tax revenue last month yielded £44,970, a decrease of £16,238 on the total for January, although it was greater by £l7B than the receipts for February last year. During the last 11 months, the tax has brought in £587,241, compared with £511,421 in the corresponding period of 1933-34. WELLINGTON I'KB.SS 4SHOCIATIOV TELKUKAM.) WELLINGTON, February 28. A steady increase in the growth of imports is shown m the customs revenue collected at Wellington this month. For the 11 months of the current financial year the revenue totals £2,243,065, an increase of £428,444 compared with Ihe corresponding months of 1933-34. The net customs revenue for February totalled £192,631, compared with £153.697 in February, 1934.

The motor spirits duty totals £57.348, compared with £53,340 in February, 1934. The petrol figures for the 11 months are £634,919 and £047,771. The tyre tax for February totalled £1955, compared with £1053. For the 11 months the figures are £22,015, compared with £15,997. 11l February sales tax totalled £55.537, compared with £46,097 in February, 1934. The total for the 11 months is £694,087. Beer excise collections for-February totalled £4857 compared with £4138 in February. 1934. The 11-month figures are £52,263 and £49.009 respectively. DUNEDIN I'KESS ASSOCIATION TKLEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, February 28. An encouraging increase in the Customs revenue collected at the Port of Dunedin for the 11 months ended to-day is revealed when a comparison is made with the figures for the same period of the financial year ended on March 31, 1934. Kor the 11 months of the current financial year, the revenue shews an increase of £72 ; 300 compared with the same period of 1933-34, and for February there is an increase of £10,379 over the returns for February, 1934. For the 11 months of the current financial year, the total revenue was £613,053 9s sd, compared with £540,753 17s Gd for the 11 months of the 1933-1934 year. The duty collected on petrol last month amounted to £15,193 lis, compared with £12,878 12s for February of last year, an increase of £2314 19s, the figures for the 11 months being £157,304 and £144,909 respectively. Beer duty showed a substantial increase over the return .for February of last year, the amount collected during last month being £20,533 Bs, against £17.730 lis 8d for the same month of 1934. The figures for the 11-month period just ended were £224,410 4s 4d, compared with £212.391 Is Id collected during the lirst 11 months of the 1933-1934 financial year.

Collections of sales tax for the month arc also well ahead of last year's figures, an increase cf £BB2 5s Id being shown, while the total tor 11 months is £224.821 12s 9d an increase of £25,789 10s Id over'the total for the same period of the last Financial year.
