PERSONAL .SPECIAL TO THE PitKES.'. •BLENHEIM, February 26. Mr C. Meachan, secretary to the Wellington Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association, arrived this morning to attend the United Fire Brigades' Association's conference, where he delivered an address on first aid. Messrs L. C. Gibbons, of the Underwriters' Council, and F. F. Gilmore, Ihe council's chief electrical inspector, arrived from Wellington this morn;nn to attend the annual conference of the United Fire Brigades' Association. Mr and Mrs L. Langvelds (Christ••hurch) are guests at the Criterion Hotel. Sister N. H. Retemeyer, of the Holmdale Maternity Hospital staff, left Blenheim this afternoon to take up an appointment under the Fijian Government at Suva. The Marlborough Hospital Board recently granted Miss Retemeyer two years' leave of absence to allow her to accept the position. In the accident which occurred outsiue the Show Grounds on Wednesday infiht, when Noel Cooke was knocked «own by a passing car, the driver of the car involved was not Miss Grigg, <"•1 Mcadowbank, as has previously been tiated.
