ANXIETY FELT
«> MISSIONARIES IN HANDS OF BANDITS (Received February 26, 8.20 p.m.) PEKING, February 25. The greatest anxiety is felt concerning Mr S. C. Frencham and his wife, an Englishwoman, who were captured by Chinese bandits. Nothing has been heard of Mr Ilayman since it was reported that he was still in Hunan. The fate of 20 missionaries, including 12 Australians, at Shensi, is unknown. Mr Frencham, an Australian, was stationed at Ningkiang, in tfce crovince of South-West Shensi. He founded a mission there four years ago. A report of the bandits' raids in Shsnsi was received in London cn February 22. It was reported from Peking on February 20 that Mr Hayman. a native of Auckland, who was captured in October, .1931, had been located in Hunan.
