LABOUR CANDIDATES

CHRISTCHURCH NOKTII AND KAIAI'OI The ballot conducted by the Canterbury Labour Representation Committee for the selection of parliamentary Labour candidates for the Christchurch North and the Kaiapoi scats closed on Friday night. The returning oflicer, Mr E. Parlane, will report the result to the headquarters of the New Zealand Labour party in Wellington. Those nominated for Christchurch North were: Messrs R. M. Macfarlane and J. Mathison. and for Kaiapoi, Messrs C. Morgan Williams and J. Mathison. In the event of Mr Mathison winning both ballots the national executive will decide for which seat he will be selected.
