♦ PLAY AT EMPIRE GAMES N.Z. REPRESENTATIVES LEAVE (raiss assocuhon tei-ioeam.) WELLINGTON, March 10. New Zealand will be represented in the bowling section at the Empire Games, to be held in London during the second week in August. There will be bowling on live days, with competitions in singles, pairs, and rinks. Three players from Auckland and one from Waikato are combining to form a rink. They are H. Grocott. G. G. Pollard, and G. H. Carter. of Auckland, and W. W. Dillicer, of Hamilton. They left for England to-day by the Ruahine, and it is their intention to take part in the singles and pairs as well as the rinks. RINK CHAMPIONSHIP RESUMED SATURDAY'S GAMES , The rink championship of the Christcharch Bowling Centre was continued on the Canterbury Club's green on Saturday afternoon in favourable weather. TAKARO SHIELD MATCH COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS' ASSOCIATION WINS The annual bowling match between the New Brighton Club and the Commercial (Travellers' Association for the Tikaio Shield, played on Saturday on the New Brighton green, wna won by the Commercial Travellers' Association by 42 points. •The association scored 136 points and New Brighton 94 points. The president of the "ew Brighton Club (Mr C. T. Middleton), presenting the ehiel I | to Mr G. E. King, president of the Commercial Travellers' Association, congratulated the association on its win. I n [ reply, Mr King recalled that the shield had been played for on eight occasions and that, including the day's win, the travellers -had secured it only twice, tho previous win i being in 1931.
