ACCIDENTS.
ACCIDENTALLY SHOT. (rRESS /SSOCIAIIOX TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 14. William Aldrich, a labourer, aged twenty-eight, of Upper Hutt, received a compound fracture of the left thigh and a severe lacerated wound to the left knee when a rifle was discharged accidentally yesterday morning. Aldrich, with .1 friend, was pigshooting in Whiteman's Valley, when the accident occurred, well back in the ranges. Ilia companion hastened to the nearest homestead, three miles away, and returnd with a stretcher and a rescue party. The injured man, who in the meantime had been made as comfortable as possible, was carried through bush to the road, the journey occupying several hours. The Free Ambulance van was waiting, and after receiving medical attention Aldrich was removed to hospital. His condition last night was reported to be satisfactory. BOY DROWNED. (PBISS ASSOCIATION TEIEGKAU.) BLENHEIM, March 14. John MeKellar Eichardson, aged eleven, the only son of Mr H. M. W. Eichardson, formerly borough engineer, was drowned while bathing in the Taylor river yesterday.
