MAYOR'S DISTRESS FUND.
GRAND CONCERT. On Sunday evening next, in the Civic Theatre, tho members of the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, now in the City, in response to a request from the Mayor, Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., will give a grand concert in aid of the Distress Fund sponsored by the Mayor. Tho whole of the company, including the principals, chorus, and orchestra, have signified their intention of assisting, the result being a big programme of good music and entertaining items. The public, no doubt, will attend in large numbers and respond liberally. Following is the programme:—Orchestral selection, Gilbert and Sullivan Orchestra (Robert Keers, conductor); aria, "Vesa P'crta," Ccsca Navaretti; song, "Drake Goes West," Gordon Bell; song, "The Bitterness of Love," .Valerie Walshe; the Gilbert and Sullivan Quartet, Messrs V. Haines, T. Broderick, J. Thompson, and J. Patterson; old English songs, Marie Bremner; song, "When the King Went Forth to War" (Roonemnn), Bernard Manning; song, "Lo, Here the Gentle Lark" (flute obbligato, Bert Lack), Maisio Ramsay; "A Few Minutes with Ivan Menzies," Ivan Menzies; violin solo, Robert Keers; song, "Little Danioiselle," Mary Hotham; song, "Tally Hoi" Cliff Cowley; interlude, "Away With Depression," Tim O'Connor; song, "Love is n Dream," Rona Wimpncy; song, selected, Jock Thompson; piano and Three Girls m Harmony, Misses Hughcson, Greta Bremner, and Bcrnico Roberts; viola solo, "Oavatina" (FiUcnbcrgcn), Harold Wnight, L.C.V., London (accompanist, Albert Crump); song, "Alasl Alack I" Maisie Duffy; song, selected, John Eraser; tho Gilbert and Sullivan Quartet, Messrs Haines, Broderick. Thompson, and Patterson. The accompanist will be Stephanie Guy, and tho stogo management will be in the capable hands of Dick Shortland.
