CHINESE PREMISES RAIDED.
BRICK THROWN AT DETECTIVE. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TILFGRAM.) AUCKLAND. March 13. Premises in Grey's avenue, where it was alleged that pakapoo was being played, were raided by detectives on Saturday night, and all of the occupants—one Chinese and nine Europeans —were arrested. The Chinese, Kar Chong, was later charged with keeping a common gaming house, the others being charged with being found unlawfully on premises used for gaming. All were remanded until Monday. A crowd ot over 1000 collected in the street, and the detectives feared that they would not be able to take their prisoners to the station, four more men being sent to their assistance. A large of brick was thrown by a man in the crowd at a detective, narrowly missing him, and breaking a window. The man was later arrested and was charged with assault and mischief.
