Mr James John Joicey, "who has justf died, was the possessor of the second largest private collection of-butterflies in the world, reported to number 1,500,000. He "had been spending from £7OOO to £IO,OOO annually, having agents in all parts, of the world. . The collection was possible because he was the son of a millionaire, but his hobby once brought Mr Joicey to the Bankruptcy Court, where it was stated that he was unable to live on £20,000 a year.> He started the hobby 40 years ago. It is expected that the, collection will be bequeathed to-the nation. [James John Joicey, F.E.G.S.; F.L.S., F.Z.S., F.E.S., F,E.H.S., naturalist and entomologist, was born in 1870.
