Cyril Stewart • Ramage, a canvasser, of Cambridge terrace, appeared charged upon • tlie information of Leslie James Lewie that he fraudulently failed to account to the Australasian Temperance and General Mutual Life Assurance Society, Ltd., for two sums, one amounting to £1 6s and the other to £•2JOs. Sub-Inspector'G. Edwards said that there would probably be further charges involving ■ up to about £2O. He asked for a. remand until March' 17th. , ■ The remand was granted, and an appeal by counsel that the accused's name be suppressed was refused. Bail was allowed in tho sum of £SO and one surety of £so.' ..TRAFFIC CASES. For cycling at night without lights the, following were fined:—Ernest Broughton, 10s and costs; Eric Daslor, 5s and costs; Claude Davies, 10s and costs;' John Owen Macer, Ss and costs; Robert Millar, 10s and costs; Frederick Thomas Rees, 10s and costs; Mildred Simpson, 10s and costs; Ross Stowell, 10s and costs; and James Williams, 10s and costs. Ernest Brounhton was fined Ss and no costs for having no bicyclo bell. Erie Dasler was convicted and discharged for having neither a bell nor a reflector on his cycle. John Owen Macer, for giving a false name and address, was fined 10s and costs. Llewellyn Lloyd Evans was fined .20s and costs for failing to give way to 'traffio approaching on his right. ' Horace Flitcroft waß .fined 10s ".nd costs for driving a motor-cycle without a light. Thomas Hooper was fined £3 and costs for negligent driving on Riccarton road. For a simiiar offence in Oxford terrace Arthur Francis Staoey was fined £1 and costs. Roy Henry WooMridge was fined 20s and costs for negligently driving in Armagh street, and Edward Stanford Warrington for a similar offence in. Bass street was fined 10s aild 1 costs and had his license cancelled. Lan Keedwcl! Noble was fined £2 and costs for negligent'driving in Estuary road; Clinton' siitt<>n'-was fined £2 and costs for using an unregistered motor-car, 20s and costs for not affixing the proper number to a motor-car, and convicted end discharged - for using l a motor-car when the full amount * of insurance on it had not been paid. VOLUNTARY APPEARANCES. Hector Fox, for failing to keep to the left, was fined 20a and costs. ; For cycling at night without a light James Tansey, Lloyd King, and James Logie were each fined 10s and costs. Leo G. Moyna arid Hugh Francis Mora " ca ch fined 10s and costs for parking a ~ motor-car without the. necessary lights^ William ~G . Farnworth was fined 20s and costs for failing: to-give way.
