—♦" CARNIVAL AT RANGIORA. The North Canterbury Swimming Club held a successful carnival in the Municipal Baths, Rangiora. on Wednesday. There was a large attendance.-" and under the . very pleasant weather conditions an unusually large ber of competitors took in the various events, especially in the '.school children s races. A feature of the carnival was ;the lowering of the club's 50. yards record.by P. Roberts, who swam the distance., in 28 l-ssec. cutting 2-sscc off the previous best time. Agassiz, t. Cairns, W. Reynolds, A. Gibb, G. Asher, H. Schon, and C. Yallance. A vote of condolence to the relatives of the Rev. C. A. Fraeiy who had been an enthusiastic vice-president of the Club, was carried. • It was reported that the carnival which had to be postponed ■ owing to unfavourable weather last Saturday would be held 'to-, morrow. The treasurer, Mr W. Reynolds, presented the financial statement, which was considered very satisfactory. Mr T. Doyle was elected a Vice-president of the club. ST. ALBANS SCHOOL SPORTS.
