Mr and Mrs Joseph Mosley, who have been visiting Christchiirch, returned yesterday. Miss Grace Grant arrived yesterday from Wellington, on a -visit to her parents at Camerons. Mrs W. Pound (Cobden) left yesterday on a visit to Dunedin. Mr N. L. Anderson, who has been; visiting relatives in Gobden, returned yesterday to Pongaroa. Mr and Mrs S, Lawa arrived yesterday from Dunedin on a visit to the West Coast. Misses Empson (Nelson) and Olliver (Timaru) are visiting friends in Grey-, mouth. Mrs P. Duncan, who has been on a holiday visit to the West Coast, returned yesterday to Dunedin. Misses V. and P. Harkin, left yesterday on a holiday visit to Christchurch, Mr and Mrs Arthur Davis left yesterday on a holiday to Christchurch. Valedictory. Mr C. S. Doyle, st&tionmaster at Westport, who fias been transferred to Wellington, and will take charge of the Government Bus Services Department, was on Monday evening, met_ by the members of the Westport Bowling Club and extended a farewell. Later he was met by the Railways staff, and presented with a' wallet. Otira Tunnel. The amount of freight through the Otira Tunnel lafct week from the West Coast was 9482, compared wit> 9299 tons for the corresponding period in 1931. In 1930 the total freight was 14,345 tons. Magistrate's Court. At a sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Mr W. Meldrum, S.M. ; presiding, William Downes and Edward Creagh, who on Monday pleaded guilty to having stowed away on the s.s. Rata at Nelson, appeared for sentence. Dowhes was also charged and pleaded guilty to the theft of 10s, the property of Mrs Maud Milligan. The police reported that both had previous convictions. Downes was convicted and fined £1 on the theft oharge, and each was fined £1 and ordered to pay the Anchor Steam Ship Company £1 10s for hia passage • from Nelson to Greymouth. Malcolm Frederick Nottage appeared charged with obtaining fraudulently from the Paramount Portrait _ Go., 18s 9d, as commission, and with issuing a valueless cheque at Nelson for £4. He was remanded to appear at Nelson on both charges. Rifle Shooting. The Grey Defence Rifle Club held its second shoot for the Club's trophy on Sunday, The highest score was put cin by Rifleman J.
