RETURNED SOLDIERS.
CHRISTCHURCH ASSOCIATION. At the fortnightly meeting of the Executive of the Christchurch branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association, heid on Monday, thp following members were present: —Messrs F. T. Read (chairman), H. Fleck, C. Chisnall, G. Dabourn, R. M. Grant, 6. W. juloyd, A. L. Emerson, J. S. Chisholm, G. A. Hay den, ajid Colonel F. W. Dawson. Mr Hayden, the Canterbury representative on the Central Coiumittee, recently appointed, reported on the meeting ot that committee, when the facilities granted by the Flock House authorities for the purpose of training sons of New Zealand ex-soldiers, was considered, and said that definite allocations had been made on a population basis throughout the Dominion. The report of the Benevolent Committee showed that 252 cases were dealt with during the past fortnight. A letter referred to the Executive from the Unemployment Committee, suggesting that efforts be mads to obtain employment for unemployed returned soldiers at tlio various racecourses was dealt with, and it was decided to refer it to the Rehabilitation Committee with a request that the matter be taken up by it on behalf of disabled ex-service men. The secretary submitted a report ot the activities of the local Rehabilitation Committee since its inception, and it was decided to write to the chairman expressing the thanks of the Association tor the effoits of the committee on behalf of disabled ex-service men. Satisfaction . was also expressed at the excellent work b'ein£ undertaken bv the local vocational ofiicer. TV Canterbury Industrial Association of Workers forwarded a. circular asking if the Association would be preoared to send two representatives. to a conference, to be hold in connexion, with the present, unemployment problem The president «»nd Mr Grant were appointed to represent the AsspU The 1 ' secretary repfrted that . the iadies' auxiliary had completed arrangements for the garden fete to be held at Rannerdale ilometui Saturday next. It was decided _to give all possible support to this "unction which is being held, to augment the funds of the Association to enable it to continue its work on behalf. of disabled and distressed ex-service men. It was reported that ,tno annual competition with .the -Commercial Travellers' Association would take place at Motakararn on March -Oth, when the cricket and tennis teams matches would be played. The Entertainment Committee of the All Nations Fair vrote asking if the R S.A. orchestra would be able to Rive its services during an evening, whilst the Fair is being held in the Edward Barracks. It was reported that the orchestra had decided to play I the evening of. April 7th,
