DEATH FROM BURNS. MAN ENVELOPED IN BLAZING OIL. (rKESS l SSOCIAXIO.V TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, March 9. Enveloped in a sheet .of burning oil as a result of an explosion in. tlie furnace he was tending at the factory of Grain Products, Limited, Newton, William Albort Dempsey was' shockingly burned about 11 a.m. to-day and lingered in a conscious state for seven hours before he died. Dempsey, who was foreman at the factory, was aged 44, and liad a wife and family. Ho was regulating the furnace when an internal explosion occurred. There was a deafening roar, and the only other workman in the basement at the time was horrified to see liim enveloped from head to foot in blazing oil. Dempsey was still enveloped in flames when the C-ity Fire Brigade arrived. He was clad in a shirt and trousers, and these garments, together with the sacks that had been flung over him, were reduced to shreds by the flames, which were eventually suppressed with chemicals. Dempsey was rushed to hospital, but there irai 7io hope for his recovery.
