MINERAL CONTENT OF BRAN.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE fRKBS. Sir, —In your issue of March thd, a correspondent, Mr G. F. Hall, isks for further information regarding the mineral content of bran. In an English publication just to hand this morning, the results of some feeding experiments at research stations are given. It is pointed out that besides the valuable vitamin B, bran contains the greater part of the mineral content of the wheat. - In the feeding trials mentioned, bran was tested against linseed cake for fattening cattle and Droved to be the superior concentrate. The bran-fed cattle were finished more quickly and looked better than the others. The article also states that bran is rich in phosphorus. Since bran is a local product sold at a low nrice, it is surprising-that more of it is not fed in the ration where hand feeding is resorted to.—Yours etc., TRIED AND PROVED. March Bth, 1932.
