FARM TRAINING FOR BOYS. EX-SERVICEMEN'S SONS. Recently the authorities of Floc-h House granted the facilities for training sons of New Zealand ex-servicemen in°farm practice, provided that finance for the maintenance of the boys during their training period can be raised. A Central Committee was sei up to go into arrangements, and this afternoon at 3 o'clock a representative meeting of members of the Fanners' Union, Canterbury Agricultural and Pa:'—-il Association, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, Y.M.C.A., and other organisations will be held in Christchurcli to discuss raising £225, which will be required for the expenses of the Canterbury quota of nine boys. A Government Subsidy. The Government, Mr E. F. Willcox (secretary of the Christchurch Heturned Soldiers' Association) told a representative of This Pkess yesterday, is prepared to subsidise each boy ip the extent of £2s—the actual cost ot training each being £6O. Ihe balance of the money will have to be iouutl locally, and this will bo the main point of the discussion. . Each boy will ba trained ior eight months, and at tho end of tne period every endeavour will be made to place him on a farm. The 1* lock House authorities undertake the after-care ot the boys for 12 months, and m the past there has been very little difficulty in giving the boys an opportunity to show the results of then tr it n is g thought that a combined committee such as that indicated »ill bo able to devise means of raising tho necessary money. The meeting will bo under the chairmanship of the Rev. I T. Read (president of tho Christchurch Returned Soldiers' Association).
