FLAG DAYS.
An Ashburton resident Jias communicated u itli th© authorities on the subject of the days on which flags on Government buildings are flown, and has received a reply setting out that as a general' rule flags are flown on the following days : New Year's Day, January Ist. St. Patrick's Day, March 17tli. Easter Monday. St. George's Day, April 23rd. Anzae Day, April 25th. Accession Day, May 6th. Empire Day, May 24th. Queen's Birthday, May 26th. Sovereign's Birthday, June 3rd. Coronation of H.M. the King <?unc 22nd. Prince of Wales Birthday, June 23rd. Dominion Day, 4th Monday in Septemper. Nelson Day, October 21st. Labour Day, 4th Monday in October. St. Andrew's Day, November 30th. Boxing Day, December 26th. Also on the anniversary day of the particular province in which the town is situated. Whenever any of the above days falls on a Sunday, the flags are to be flown on 'the following Monday, except Anzao Day. On Armistice Driy, November 11th, flags are to be flown half-mast for two minutes only at It a.m., when silence is being observed throughout the Dominion. The City's List. In the Christehurch City Council's Year Book is given a list '*of the recognised days on which flags are flown on public buildings in the City." This list differs from the Government list in some particulars. It includes:— St. David's Day, March Ist. America Day, July 4th. French Day, July 14th. Show Day, November. It omits the following:— Easter Monday. Accession Day, May Uth. Queen's Birthday. May 26th. Coronation of H.M. the King, June 2'2nd
