YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS. There was a moderate turnover on call yesterday and markets generally were firm with a hardening tendency m the case of some Australian stocks. Transactions exclusive of vestibule business were: — £BOO N.Z. Govt. per cent., Inscr., 1937. 70 Bank of Australasia (cum div.). 250 Bank of New Zealand. 100 Goldsbrough, Mort. 100 Union Steam Ship (pref.). 700 N.Z. Refrig. (10s paid). 100 Dunlop Rubber. 100 Victoria Nyanza Sugar. 250 Golden Dawn. 700 King Solomon. 1300 Mahakipawa. 500 Mahakipawa (pre/.). - 100 Okarito. Unsupported sellers of New Zealand Govt. per cent. Stock, due 1939, reduced their limits to £92 12s 6d. iv e and a half per cent. Stock, due 19;57, eased to £96 15s. Bank of Australasia shares, cum dividend, were weaker, with dealings at j £9, and further sellers at £9 Is, buyers at £8 18s. Bank of New Zealand shares changed hands at 42s 4d and 42s 6d, sellers staying in at the higher price, buyers at 42s 3d. j Miscellaneous. Goldsbrough, Morts recovered to 21s lid, market closing 21s lOd buyers, 22s 3d sellers. Union Steam Ship preference shares had business at 20s Id. closing quotations 19s lOd buyers, 20s 3d sellers. N.Z. Refrigerating 10s paid shares had dealings at 3s 5d and 3s 4d. closing quotations 3s 4d buyers, 3s 6d sellers. Sellers of New Zealand Breweries shares came down to 235, buyers at 22s 6d. Staples were easier with sellers at 22s 6d, buyers at 20s. Buyers of British Tobaccos, cum dividend, advanced their offers to 25s 9d, sellers at 26s 3d. Dunlop Rubbers were taken at 10s 2d and more were wanted at 10s Id, sellers at 10s 6d. Buyers of N.Z. Drug Company shares, cum dir-; idend of 4 per cent., making 7J per cent, for the year, moved up to 46s Cd, sellers at 48s. Victoria Nyanza Sugar shares realised 14s 6d, closing quotations 6d on either side. Golden Dawns were fractionally firmer with dealings at 7s, sellers staying in at that figure, buyers at 6s lOd. King Salomons were fractionally weaker at Is 4d and Is 3}d, market closing 1b 3Jd, sellers, Is 2d buyers. Mahakipawa Ordinary changed hands at 2d, and the preference at 2£d. Okaritos shaded to 9s 4d, sellers staying in at that price, buyers at 9s 3d.
