OBITUARY.
MR JUSTICE HEYDON. 'UNIT.tD PRESS ASSOCIATION—»T *LKCTBIO TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) SYDNEY, March 7. The death is announced of Mr Justice. Heydon. agod 87. Death was due to pneumonia. Judge Heydon was called to the Bar in Sydney in 1876. Ho was a Legislative Councillor and held Ministerial office in the Dibbs Government. He was appointed to the Bench in 1905. As Arbitration Court Judge he was the first man in Australia to state the principle of the living wage, which later was given effect to by Mr Justice Higgins. [Charles Gilbert Heydon was born at Sydney in 1845, and was a Fellow of St. John's College, Sydney University, in 1873. He entered the service of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney in 1860, was called to the Bar in 1875, and was made a Queen's Counsellor in 3896. He was President of the Arbitration Court in 1905, and a Judge of the Industrial Court from April, 1908, until his retirement from tho Bench in 1919.]
