BACK TO BRITAIN.
MORE IMMIGRANTS THAN EMIGRANTS. PROBLEM OF MAINTENANCE. (UKITBD PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIO TBLEOEAPIT—COPVEWHT.) LONDON, March 6. Tho ''Morning Post" quotes statistics from the Board of Trade Journal showing that for the first time more British people entered Great Britain in 1931 than departed. The details show that 23,000 more British entered than left, against un outward balance of over 8000 in the previous year. Australia, New Zealand, and Canada all sent more than they received. The "Morning Post" says: "We can only suppose they have been either beaten by the harder conditions in tho New World ? or attracted by tho softer conditions of, the old. In any case, it is not a good sign of the times, for it makes more difficult the problem of how to maintain the surplus in these islands."
