AORANGI DELAYED.
THICK WEATHER OFF COAST. \ (MESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) AUCKLAND, March 7. The mail liner, Aorangi, which was due at daybreak from Sydney, did not reach Auckland until after 10 o'clock to-night. The passengers will land tomorrow. The Aorangi ran into "thick weather outside the Gulf and at 1.27 p.m. sent the following wireless fidvice: "We are hove-to, Moko Hinau Island bearing 220 degrees distant 24 miles. The wind is east-south-east with, high seas and a heavy swell. Visibility is low." When that message was sent the Aorangi was approximately 80 miles from Auckland. Eventually the weather lifted and she was able to make port. At 2 o'clock this morning the liner ran into very thitfk weather. The wind increased till it reached hurricane force, and it was accompanied by high, confused seas. So thick was the weather that no landmarks were sighted, so the Aorangi hovo-to for ten hours. These conditions continued till 4 o'clock Ifchis afternoon, when landmarks were picked up, and the liner came into port and anchored in the stream for the night. The 230 passengers aboard ha<La most uncomfortable time. .
