A decision that Die subscription for men bo reduced from £6 6a to £5 ss, and for women from £5 5s to £t 4s, was arrived at by a special meeting of the Harewood Golf Club, which preceded the annual meeting in the Chamber of Commerce last evening. The meeting also decided that pereons between the ages of 18 and 21 should be admitted as intermediate members upon payment, oi the entrance tee in loico at tue tuuo ol' their - election, and upon payment of iiali the ordinary subscription, 'ihe president A. it. Blank) occupied the chair. The special meeting was held to consider the following motions, proposed by Messrs A. E. Kmcai'i and A. B. iiobbs: — That the part ot Uule 5 reading, "For men 16 6a, reducible to i's 5s if paid by April IKith; for ladies £0 5a reducible to £1 4s i£ l-aid by April 30th," be altered, substituting therefore the words "For men £5 5s reducible to -£-1 4s if paid by April 30th; for ladies £4 4s reducible to £3 3s if paid by April 3Gth." That Rule 5 be added to by the inclusion of the followirg:—That persons between the cges of 18 and V 3l may be elected as intermediate members upon payment of the entiance fee in force at the time of their election and upon payment of half the ordinary subscription. Introducing his motion, Air Kincaid said that it was with great diffidence that he propored a reduction in the subscription, because at present took the club all its time to meet its expenses; yet the committed felt that, partly because of the depression, and alao in view of the increased possibility of securing new members, some reduction in the subscripton should bo made. The chairman said that if the subscription vtre reduced ii would be necessary for it to be raised again at some future date, and he hoped that tho members who now supported t'is reduction would then vote for the inciease. The motion was carried unanimous!;, - . In regard to the suspension of the entrance fee for this year, the chairman said that power to do this was in the committee's hands, and this had been done to encourage new members. The results so far had justified the action taken. Mr Hobbs then proposed his motion, add'■nS to it that tho intermediates be granted f"ti privileges. Mr 11. M. Taylor moved as an amendment teat the question of playing rights be left the hands or the ingoing committee. The amendment was lost and the motion carried. I The Annual Meeting. annual meeting was then held, Mr Blank again presiding. In proposing the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, Mr Blank said that now the course was in fairly good order, and a number of improvements had been carried out to the club buildings. There was a decrease in the membership, and as the subscription foes had been reduced, new members would be needed. On two oceathe club's buildings had been broken into, and it would be necessary to consider, sooner or later, tli© question of getting a permanent custodian at the links. The committee had gone into the matter of transport to the links, and it was hoped to have a servicn running by March 20th. Mr Kincaid seconded the motion, saying that he doubted if better greens than those at Harewood at the present time could be found anywhere in New Zealand. The standard of play had shown a great improvement during the past season, and this had been particularly evident among the junior members. The report was adopted. Mr M. W.
