weather at Kirwee for the mouth of February was very dry up to the 17th, but on the 18th the weather broke, and a good rain fell at intervals, 2.48 inch&s being recorded lor For the corresponding 1931 ' tbe fall 3.48 inches and 1930, 1.19 inches. For the two months ending on February 29th, the total fall was 3.73 inches, and for the corresponding period of 1931, 5.3U | and 1930. 8.44 inches, of which ~20 inches fell in January. LEESTON. At the annual meeting of the Ellcsmere School Sports Association, held at Leeston, it was decided to hold the combined schools summer athletic meeting at Leeston on .March 13th. A programme of sixty events was approved, and the closing day for entries was fixed for March 10th. Last year's officers were elected, Mr W. <J. Eggolton being chairman, and Mr W. H. Cartwright secretary. SOUTHBRIDGE. A "bring and buy" sale held in fc>t. James's Parish Hall, Southbridge, on Thursday, was well patronised, and the result exceeded the amount expected. The Home Mission Fund will have a welcome addition to its funds. Several stalls were conducted by the wives ot the vestrymen. They were weir stocked, and the goods changed hands readily. Several competitions were held. GREENDALE. Harvest thanksgiving services in con nexion .with the Greendale Baptist Chuicli were' celebrated recently, when good congregations assembled in the morning, afternoon and evening. The morning and afternoon services were conducted by the Rev. V. It. Jnmiesou, the preacher at the evening service being the Rev. E. T. Jones, pastor of the Church. The choir sang special hymns. Miss M. E. Giddings . was the organist. On Wednesday evening the harvest festival was continued when the usual ten was held in the schoolroom, after which a public meeting was held in the church, the Rev. E. T. Jones presiding. A programme was given as follows Piano solo. Miss 0. Kirkhani; songs, Mrs E. H. Frew, the Misses B, F. Rudd Mavis Ad mm, Betty Adams, and .Messrs G. Early and W. Shipley. Duet, Misses Betty and Mavis Adams. Air address was . given bv the Rev. V. R. Jamieson. The' accompanists were Misses B. F. Rudd, J.-Hndd, 51. E. Giddings. Austin and Mrs E. FT. Frew. HORNBY. The first meeting of the Workers' Educational Association was held in the Hornby School. Mr R. J. Roberts presided over a good attendance. Mr p. O'Fly mi (president) gave an address on "Economics." At the conclusion the was accorded a vote of thanks. M'es Gwen Rowlands was •appointed secretary. The fortnightly meeting, of the Olive Branch Lodge, U.A.0.D., was bejd in' the Hornby Parish Room, A.D. Bro. Bannerman presiding over'a good attendance of members. Sick pay amounting to £2 13s was passed for payment, also accounts for £47 10s lUd. A motion of sympathy was passed 'to V.D.P. Bro. Clegg in'his bereavement. Two candidates were initiated into the Order and three were proposed for membership.
