A fox which was being hunted by the . Berkeley hounds at Llanthony, Gloucestershire, recently, ran into the house of Mr N. L. Bradley and took refuge up the chimney. A sweep had to be employed to get him out. Hounds had chased the fox to the bank of the Eiver Severn where he took to the water and swam across. The hounds followed, and the fox, finding the door of Mr Bradley's house open, dashed in, closely followed by the hounds. The fox bolted up the'chimney and there re-, mained, very quiet, but the hounds swarmed over the house and located the fox. Huntsmen tried to get the hounds out of the house, but failed, and a sweep had to J>e called in to attempt to "dig" out" the fox. When the sweep's brushes were thrust up the chimney the fox jumped out on to the roof and down on to some back premises and made another dash for life. Hounds were close upon his heels' however, and he was killed on the river bank. ,
