It is reported that the Lang Government is planning to legalise betting in connexion with tin-haro racing, which was banned a few years ago. The Government expects to raiso an additional revenuo of £250,000. A NATIONAL CABINET. PROPOSAL RAISES LAUGHTER. (Received September 241 hj, 11.45 p.m.) CANBERRA, September 24. Dr. Earlo Page, Leader of the Country l'arty in the House of Representatives, on a motion for adjournment, suggested the formation of a National Government in view of the critical times through which the country was passing. Opposition members laughed at the proposal, which was talked out.
NOTE ISSUE. AUSTRALIAN LABOUR POLICY. SYDNEY, September 2-1. The Canberra correspondent of the "Sydney Morning Herald" says that tlic Federal Ministry is being urged by a section of the Labour Party to reintroduce proposals for a fiduciary note issue and for revolutionary changes in the banking System, and in tho event of them being rejected by the Senate to appeal to the electors immediately. LABOUR CAUCUS DEFERS CONSIDERATION., (Received September 24th, 9.15 p.m.) CANBERRA, September 24. The Federal Labour caucus, which was disappointed with the bankers' attitude in not making financial provision for absorption of the unemployed, revised tho question of a fiduciary note issue, but deferred consideration until the position in Great Britain clarifies, which is expected in about a fortnight.
