THEATRE ROYAL.

\ "WHOOPEES* Eddie Cantor makes a groat isuccess of the leading part in "Whoopw," the picture allowing at the Theatra Royal this week. There is no other screen . actor to whom one can liken him. In ihe quality of his remarks, dry and unccmpromisiag, and packed to .tha. limit with worldly knowledga./he bears soma slight resemblance to the .'.English artist, George Robey. ' One now has an opportunity of seeinir him in a vehicle of length, a medium by which he can sire his remarkable powers, as a comedian,, the fullest scope The picture also Rives opportunities for the celebiated 'Ziegfeld beauties, ' more' or less dbessed, to dance and parade in brilliant settings. "Whoopee" seems to be the answer to all wishes for colour improvement , its scenes are' clear-cut and quite natural throughout. Tnstead of producing ail the scenes In Indoor settings—and even the best of these can sometimes bore, through their very sumptuousness—the directors have taken many outdoor "shots." Thus there Is a happy balance. The music and dancing are health-giving in their wight* ness, and the story is quite logical. The latter has for Its main character a younp man, Henry Williams, who believes himself th» victim of ail sorts of mental and physical disorders, and whtf goes to the Wild West In search of health.
