THE PLAZA.
"CHARLEY'S AUNT" Though "Charley'a Aunt" enjoyed an extended eeason at the Theatre Royal, it' is drawing crowded houses at the Plaza, where it is now showing. As % stage presentation and as a silent film, with Syd. Chaplin in the title role, . the famous farce, "Charley's Aunt," has raised more laughs than any other comedy in the world. Now it has . come to Christchureh as a talking picture to delight those who never saw it in its earlier forms, and bring a fresher and more lasting impression to the minds of those who in years J rone by have laughed at the antics of Charey's eccentric aunt. The story of the-farce is too well known to require repetition, and the-director 0! the Aim has nor attempted any alteration or Improvement, although full advantage has been taken of the wider "possibilities of the talking picture. In addition to the quick change of scene and continuity of the silent film, which suffered through being condemned to silence, the latest version of "Charley's Aunt" is enriched by the added humour of the most unusual Inflection of Charles Ruggles's voice. The comedian's efforts to be coy and wlhsomely feminine reduce the audience to helpless laughter.
