The High Commissioner hjis been able td. arrange interviews for him with Mr' Neville Chamberlain, Mr Halford Mackinder (chairman of the Shipping and Imperial Economic Committees), Mr W. Graham (president of the Board of Trade), Mr Harold Ford (secretary of the Clyde, Trust), and the chairman of the London Chamber of Commerce. With all; these Mr Samuel has hod interesting discussions on reciprocal trade'. He has als? seen officials of the' Department of Overseas 1 rade. representatives of the Sheflield steel industry, and some other leading industrialists. ' ... In an interview with'a Daily Mau ' representative, Mr Samuel said: I hope to corkvince people of the need for some body, , controlled by an expert from New Zealand, through which British manufacturers can get in touch with the great potential markets of New Zealand If British manufacturers* art to obtain the greatest possible amount of trade with New Zealand an intensive campaign for better salesmanship and the better marketing of their goods is urgently needed. Such an organisation as I suggest would collate All necessary information and form ti link between' the home manufacturer and -the Dominion market ,which nro«enfc is being exploited effectively | by foreign manufacturers.
