REGENT THEATRE.
"THE OFFICE WIFE." Ten million wives have asked this question —"What goes on in the office after hours!"—and now Warner Bros, and Vitaphone have supplied an answer in the talkie, "The Office Wife," which will begin to-day at the Regent. Theatre. AH wives should see "The Office Wife"; all housewives should study the new menace, and when they see it tongues will start wagging. Men should see it too, so that they will have a chance to prepare their defences. All of which means that "The Office Wife u a' very controversial comedy-drama of the sophisticated type that appeals so highly to modern picturegoers. : . The film is made from the well-known story by Faith Baldwin, and the adaptation has been-excellently handled. Dorothy Mackail! as the attractive office wife does- very good work, and Lewis Stone as the employer is excellent. The whole thing concerns a business man whose secretary o more important factor in his life than his wife. , Lewis Stone, when he had an unattractive secretary, found his love interests outlido his office: but when Dorothy Mackaill becomes his secretary he neglects his - wife, Natalie Moorhead, who has her own lover,, and doesn't care anyway, and becomes vitally interested in the secretary, who returns his affection.; Things are finally settled when the wife , seeks a Paris divorce and the employer and the secretary plan to marry, The office wife makes one request now that she has become an ordinary wife —that she be allowed to choose her. husband's new secretary. . ; The story is told in a straightforward fashion, and it has plenty of punch. Clever comedy scenes are injected throughout, and the acting'of the principals, and also of the supporting cast, is all that could be desired.
