Gilbert left on Tuesday for Palmerston North, and Mr Vincent McSherry, of Greenmeadows Seminary, who has been visiting his parents returned to Napier with him. Mr M. Hanralian, who has been spending a holiday in Wellington, has returned. Mr J. Kerrigan, Chief Veterinarian for Canterbury and Westland, who has been paying ah official visit to the WestCoast, returned to Christchurch on Tuesday;, ; Dr. Eleanor Baker-McLaglan, medical' officer to the Canterbury Education Board, is visiting the West Coast schools. Mr J. Crossman has been appointed headmaster at Ikamatua and has commenced duty. Cricketer* Injured. During the progress of & cricket match at. Beef ton on Sunday, Mr B. Chandler, of the Granity team, was struck on tie mouth by the ball, and had his upper teeth broken. Road Worker Hurt. . Mr T. D. Blackadder, of Springs Junction, while working on the Maruia road last week,, sustained injury to tho cartilage of a leg, and was taken to Reeftoh for treatment.

Scbool Committee. . tfhe Hokitika High School Committee met on Monday evening, Mr A. C. Armstrong (chairman) presiding. Miss Ann Duff wrote advising that Messrs A. and T. Burt, Christchurch, had given pewter for the arts and crafts classes. It was resolved to thank tlie donors. r
