- ' >; ;; At the fortnightly meeting,of th# executive Held on Monday evening, the. following members were present: Messrs Smith (chairman), H6lmes, Emerson, Bead Holderness, Dabourn, Lloyd, Hayden, Neale (Springs and the secretary. A letter-was received from headquarters, advising the sum of £3500 had been .made available; by the Canteen and Regimental Trust' Board to the New Zealand Keturneil Soldiers' Association ' for v relief of distress amongst returned soldiers, and that thei Dominion Executive had allocated , the , sum -of £650 to the Christehurch' district! The letter was received.' The Town Clerk wrote granting permission for the annual sale of poppies $o be held in the streets of the City on .Friday, April 24th. The sUb-comraittee appointed reported that the organiser, had ' been selected to organise the Poppy Day ap l peal, and that he had' commenced his work in the country districts. The action of the subcommittee Was approved. * The following sub-committee was ap-' pointed jo make arrangements for the Anzacj Day service: Messrs Hayden, Holmes,' Emerson, Lloyd, Jler.k.I Mr Itead advised that in response to his appeal a number of* books and magazines had been ' forwarded to the Association's office' for dispatch to the Hornby and Templeton Eest Houses.
