Pixie Gold, who is engaged, at Motukarara, ran five furlongs in lmin 4aec, the last half in Slsec. ■ Battle Queen showed good form in galloping half a mile in- 50 '2-ssec. Sapient covered the same ground in lmin ssec, and Topere and Appeal were together at the end of six furlongs in lmin 18 3-ssec. Spoon gave another pleasing, display in galloping a mile in lmin 44 3-ssec, finishing on strongly. Full Feather and Ball Dress .were allotted a similar task executed in lmin 46 ! 2-ssec. Liverpool Grand National. While the conditions of the Liverpool Grand National have been alteredat various periods, the changes to operate this year make the race stand out in marked contrast with previous years. The maximum weight has been allowed to Remain at 12-7, but the minimum weight is now fixed at 10-7, and it is further laid down that a horse, to be eligible for entry, must have to his credit a .victory over Aintree, or a placed performance in a three miles steeplechase on, ahy other course, or have been declared the winner of any steeplechase of the value of £SOO, The new conditions have for their object the limiting of the number of starters, which of late "years has occasioned much concern. Last year the v Grand' National field numbered 41, and it is in the hope that the conditions now imposed will lessen' this chance of' accidents, and also give the proved division greater security, that action has been tafien. The great, cross-country race, which is to be run on March 27th', has attracted 85 ' entries, • which, include horses from France, United States, and Hungary, 4s well- as those hailing, from the British Isles, Shaun Goilin, Meliorate Belle, Sir Lindsay, and Glapgesia, who comprised the leading four iu last year's, contest, engaged.
