SYDENHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
At the 1 March meeting of the- Sydenham School Committee there were-present Messrs 0. H. Rintoul (chairman), J. H. J. G. Brown, A. Milne, W. Lloyd, and H. H. 's?The headmaster reported that the number on at the end pi February wa?:, KKyi 422 and girls 427, average attendance i 781 'or 82 per cent. ■ The roll numbers for the corresponding period last .year were 873. I Mrs Hobbs. wife of the hist caretaker, hay. inir satisfied the committee that she is capable of performing' the duties of caretaker, has been appointed permanently to that position in"li« of her late husband. The headmaster reported that the school ' children had decided to abandon the annual picnic, and'that- 1 the amouijt of money that Would have been spent thereon would be given' to the earthquake fniid. " Messrs-- TrenbertK and Thonjpson were ' appointed > visiting inspectors for the ensuing | amounting to £l7 7s 2d were parsed for payment, . ■
