NEW BRIGHTON TROTTING CLUB. AUTUMN MEETING. V lt was well worth- going to the New Brighton Trotting Course on Saturday if no other reason than for the pleasure of seeing the unusually large number of horses that faced the barrier for each race. The most phlegmatic of "mortals could hardly fail to enjoy a thrill of excitement at the thud of hurrying hoofs and the sight of twenty-two horses almost in a bunch gallantly striving for first place as they rushed past the judge's box. And big fields were the rule, not the exception, on Saturday, making the task of the speculator difficult, but maintaining the interest and excitement of the crowd.
Altogether the Autumn Meeting was a particularly pleasant gathering. The weather, cloudy in the forenoon, improved as the day wore on and there was no wind.
