The service began at.oile o'clock ahd lasted an hour, It was fully choral and was i'onducted by Doctor W. Borland, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church ot Victoria. Among those who * v ' el ' Q ri P l ' eSen t were representatives of. the I' ederal and State Governments, Lonsuls, musical societies, leading bub* lie men, and Mr 0. L. Firth* New Zealand Government agent. The oaken cafeket rested on a dais at the side of the pulpit, almost hidden in magnificent wreaths. • ? 1 thousand people gathered outside the church to watcKthe funeral procession move away. The interment took place at the family .vault at Lilydale Cemetery.
